In a team of 6, we were given the problem of designing a better book stand for a library. The current system involved creating a custom book mount out of matboard for every single book, each time. The top 3 designs were 3D modeled by me with the sliding design being 3D printed and implemented. 12 of these bookstands were then created for the client, and are now being used in their latest book exhibit.
I used SolidWorks to design a sliding book stand. A modified design was implemented.
Final Bookstand in Use
3D Printed Bookstand
The new bookstand system enhances the library's exhibit by providing a versatile, easy-to-implement solution. By replacing the previous matboard mounts, the custom-designed bookstands are more durable, reusable, and aesthetically pleasing, improving both functionality and the visual appeal of the display.
I used SolidWorks to design a book stand using a ball and socket arm. This wasn't used in the final implementation.
I used SolidWorks to design a book stand using modular pieces. This wasn't used in the final implementation.
