UT24 CFD Radiator Simulation

For the UT24 Cooling system, the main goal was to optimize the design and reduce weight. A multi-approach method was used, starting with analytical calculations for the radiator. From this, the overall heat transfer coefficient was determined and validated with experimental data. A StarCCM+ model of the radiator was then validated against both analytical and experimental data, providing a reliable way to validate sidepods and the effectiveness of the cooling loop design.

Key Features

  • Analytical Calculations: Determines heat transfer coefficient of the radiator.
  • Experimental Validation: Verifies calculations with actual experimental data.
  • StarCCM+ Modeling: Simulates the radiator design to validate sidepod and cooling loop effectiveness.

Applications and Benefits

The UT24 Cooling system optimization enhances heat transfer and reduces system weight. The multi-method approach ensures precise validation of cooling components, improving the overall performance and reliability of the cooling loop.
